On October 24, 2024, at the Department of Cardiovasular Diseases at Dubrava University Hospital, the first four patients with paroxysmal and persistent atrial fibrillation were successfully treated using the latest pulsed field ablation (PFA) technology – Varipulse. This technology, the third PFA option available at Dubrava UH, uses a specially designed circular catheter with ten electrodes that deliver high-voltage impulses, targeting cardiac cells responsible for arrhythmia while minimizing damage to surrounding tissue.
Varipulse is compatible with the existing 3D navigation system, providing operators with added precision in atrial fibrillation ablation.
The initial procedures were successfully performed by our expert invasive electrophysiologists: Ivan Zeljković, Nikola Pavlović, Šime Manola, Ana Jordan and Ante Lisičić, supported by nurses (Mateja Lovrić, Marina Žanić, Nikolina Slamek, Mirela Adamović, Ivica Benko) and radiology technicians (Mario Tomašević, Ivan Horvat) from the Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology Department.
With this achievement, Dubrava UH reaffirms its commitment to utilizing the most advanced technologies in arrhythmia treatment, ensuring our patients receive the highest quality of care.
