The employees of the Department regularly publish scientific and professional articles in journals indexed in international medical databases and participate as invited speakers at congresses in Croatia and abroad. Research topics include: hemodynamic monitoring, invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, sepsis, prevention and treatment of nosocomial infections, and risk analysis of complication and mortality rates in intensive care medicine. In cooperation with the Central Ethics Committee of the Ministry of Health, international multicenter clinical trials are conducted in accordance with the rules of good clinical practice (GCP).
Employees of the Department are authors and co-authors of several university textbooks: Clinical Anesthesiology 2005, Intensive Care Medicine 2008, Clinical Anesthesiology, 2nd edition 2013, Anesthesiology in Dental Medicine 2019, Anesthesiology in Dental Medicine 2024 (English ed.) and numerous manuals in the field of anesthesiology and intensive care medicine.
Under the organization of the Department and the Croatian Society of Intensive Care Medicine, the International Congress of Hemodynamic Monitoring, the Symposium on Intensive Care Medicine and the Symposium on Advanced Monitoring of Respiratory Function are held annually, attended by renowned speakers and participants from Croatia and abroad.
