The Division of Cardiovascular Anesthesia with Intensive Care Medicine is staffed by specialists in anesthesiology, reanimatology and intensive care medicine, as well as subspecialists in intensive care medicine (including one assistant professor, three PhD doctors, three primarii).

The Divison has a capacity of 7 patient beds equipped with state-of-the-art mechanical ventilation systems and vital signs monitoring, including continuous advanced hemodynamic monitoring.

In collaboration with colleagues from the Department of Cardiac and Transplant Surgery and the Department of Vascular Surgery, the Division treats patients in the perioperative period after complex cardiac and vascular procedures.

The Division’s staff are members of the heart transplant team and, in addition to transplant patients, they also treat patients with implanted ventricular assist device (VAD), and routine extracorporeal organ support (ECMO, CVVHDF) is provided for patients whose clinical condition requires it.

The Division’s staff are members of relevant scientific and professional societies (HDIM, ESICM, EACTA, ESAIC), and education in cardiac anesthesia and intensive care medicine is provided within the framework of specialist and subspecialist training for colleagues from Croatia and abroad.
