At the Department of Psychiatry, psychiatric disorders are diagnosed and treated in accordance with contemporary psychiatric guidelines, whereby a specific integrated approach is developed. Treatment is provided on an inpatient and outpatient basis, including outpatient care, day hospital treatment, social rehabilitation programs, occupational therapy, individual and group psychotherapeutic programs, and psychosocial rehabilitation procedures. Psychotherapeutic programs for stress management and for patients with anxiety disorders are also carried out. Treatment is based on a comprehensive biopsychosocial approach that integrates biological, psychological, and psychosocial procedures. The Department of Psychiatry also provides psychological and psychiatric support to oncological patients.

A Reference Center of the Ministry of Health for stress-related disorders has been established within the Department.

The Department of Psychiatry has been appointed the Department of Psychiatry of the University of Applied Health Sciences, Zagreb. The Department provides education for students of the University of Applied Health Sciences and other faculties.

The Department consists of a Division of Psychiatry, a Division of Psychotrauma, a Day Hospital ,and Outpatient services with the following units: General Psychiatry, Psychotrauma, Biological Psychiatry, Social Psychiatry, General and Forensic Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, Liaison Psychiatry, Youth Mental Health, Psychology.
